Biography

Prateek Bhardwaj is a postdoctoral fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai, India. His research expertise primarily includes the use of ultrasound responsive smart biomaterials and hydrogel based drug delivery strategies for chemoradiotherapy and contrast enhanced imaging of locally advanced tumors. To assess the clinical needs and the translation potential of nanomedicine based solutions, he works in close collaboration with radiation oncologists and clinical pharmacologists at India’s one of the leading cancer organization i.e. Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He has been granted a patent by the Government of India, for developing a loco-regional radiosensitizing gel as a clinical alternative to the systemic chemoradiotherapy regimen of the most prevalent malignancy in Indian population i.e. head and neck cancer. He had shared the preclinical leads pertaining to this through an “Oral talk” amongst radiation oncologists globally at the “American Society for Radiation Oncology” (ASTRO) international conference. He has published several peer-reviewed research and review articles in esteemed international journals like Nanoscale, Journal of Controlled Release, Biomaterials, Acta Biomaterialia, and Biomacromolecules. He has been awarded several national fellowships and scholarships by the Government of India for his meritorious academic performances. His future research interest lies in nanomedicine mediated immune-engineering for oncology and finding novel radiosensitizing markers as a drug target to augment radiation therapy
