Ramesh V Upadhyay is a Professor of Physics and Provost (Vice-Chancellor) at Charotar University of Science & Technology, Changa, Gujarat. He previously served for two decades at Bhavnagar University in the Physics Department. Under the direction of Prof R V Mehta, he developed research on magnetic fluids at the University of Bhavnagar. For this research, Professor Upadhyay was awarded the Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Prize for Nanotechnology Applications in Industry by the government of Gujarat in the year 2007 along with Professor R V Mehta. He has published more than 175 articles in international journals, 2 book chapters and more than 100 presentations to national and international conferences. He was a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow at the University of North Wales, Bangor from 1991-1992. He was STINT visiting professor at KTH in Sweden.He was presented with the UGC Career Award. Currently, his main area of research focuses on the synthesis of magnetorheological fluids and magnetic fluids for industrial applications such as dampers, gearbox coolant, etc. There are four patents to his credit.
